Your habits are wrong!
You know is a myth, right?
There is this myth that habits take 21 days (or more for some) to create. I’ve been reading and learning about this topic and came to the conclusion this is “false”. But why is false? Think about a diet, you spend 30 days without fat or fast food or sugar, lose 5 pounds and as soon you are off the diet you get your weight back and then some. Wasn’t it supposed to become a habit to eat healthy? It does not. Same happens when you make a christmas saving; I am not saying this is a bad idea, I encourage you too. But think about what comes right after you get your money back, you get some gifts for your family, take someone to a special dinner, meet with friends, and then Jan 1st you are bankrupt again.
The key on creating a habit is to make a decision now. Today. That’s all it takes and that’s all you need. Habits are behaviors that we create and do on a daily basis so eventually become so automatized that we do not even know we are doing them.
Instead of thinking “I’m gonna start saving for christmas”, say I am going to start saving, period, and then move money from your checking account to your savings account. Create a rule. Save from now until forever. Not having a deadline will make it easier to save and not spend that money once you get to an specific amount or date. You wanna lose weight, get up from the chair and go walk around the block, do it when you wake up, before breakfast, do it at night before bed, swap that donuts and get some fruits, do it now, and keep doing it forever, not because you wanna fit that dress or that suit for that wedding in 2 months. You wanna be a medium writer, get to your computer or cellphone and write something that will give something to others. Do you want to get Instafamous, go out and start shooting photos, sharing your content and engaging your audience.
Sky is not the limit but you can start there. Life is made of habits, make them count.
